Many cats love catnip because it gets them into a euphoric mood. However like any type of stimulant, your cat can get too much of a good thing. Surprisingly, too much catnip can cause cats pain or discomfort.
Effects of catnip can often last up to 30 minutes. But if your cat develops vomiting and/or diarrhea that is persistent, you should have them checked out by a veterinarian. With a little care, you can make sure your cat can safely enjoy catnip without any trouble.
