Cat urine smells awful but it’s something they should be doing in a litter box. However, if a cat urinates outside of a litter box, that could be a sign of problems that you should resolve as soon as possible.

One problem could be health related such as bladder or kidney problems. A second problem could be stress and anxiety related such as a new pet in the family, a person leaving the house (such as a child leaving for college), or even loud noises from outside. If a cat is peeing around your house, check for both mental and physical problems before your house drowns in cat urine.
