There’s a reason why some people prefer dogs and some people prefer cats. Usually it’s because they prefer the way each type of pet behaves, but the latest research suggests there’s an underlying motive.

Apparently, dog owners tend to take bigger risks and respond more to reward-oriented advertisements. Cat owners, on the other hand, are more cautious and more likely to react to ads emphasizing risk aversion. Since cats can be timid, cat owners likely share that same trait as well but lack other cat traits like defecating in a box.
