Initially you might need to show the treat but eventually you should graduate to hiding the treat and only giving it to your cat when it completes the trick. By using treats, you can eventually reward your cat for the behavior you want.
Of course, training your cat to do everything you want it to do will be impossible because there aren’t enough treats in the world or the time to train your cat completely. That’s why most cats wind up training their humans instead, which is far easier and doesn’t even require regular treats.
