Why do people love cats so much? Besides pictures of naked celebrities, pictures of cats seem to flood the Internet. While some people just think cat lovers are crazy, there’s actually a scientific basis for our love affair with cats.
According to The New York Times, people are hard-wired to like mammals and consider anything cute that shares features reminiscent of human babies. So we anthropomorphize cats to have traits we consider desirable.
Of course, that doesn’t explain why cat lovers (and their cats) often dislike certain people, but maybe that’s because people can be so awful at times while cats are always so lovable, even when they;’re destroying your drapes or wrecking your bedroom blankets.
