If you’re a fan of cats and anime, you might be interested in Doraemon, a blue time-traveling robotic cat from the future. Created by artist Fujiko F Fujio in December 1969, Doraemon has become a universally known and beloved character in Japan and much of the rest of Asia. In 2008, Doraemon was designated Japan’s first “anime ambassador.” In 2002, Doraemon was acclaimed as “the cuddliest hero in Asia” in a special edition of Time Asia magazine.

Doraemon is a manga character that travels back from the future to rescue Nobita, a school boy, who has perpetual bad luck.  These Doraemon stories emphasize the themes of friendship, family, adventure, trust, and love, which is probably something most people never get from their real cat.
