Since we have holidays for practical every occasion, it only makes sense that we would also have a National Cat Day. Created in 2005 by animal welfare advocateĀ Colleen Paige, her goal was to raise awareness of the number of cats that are rescued each year and to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the felines in their lives.

With so many felines taking over our lives, perhaps it’s time we have a National Human Rescue Day where non-cat owners can rescue their friends who own cats and give them a break from the incessant demands of their pets.
