Could your cat secretly be controlling you though its pursuing? That may sound like the ramblings of a conspiracy theorist, but it’s actually the conclusion of a scientific study that determined that cats use something called solicitation purring to control human beings.

“Cats were embedding within this low-frequency purr a high-frequency cry that was similar to the pitch of a baby cry,” said Karen McComb, who studies animal communication at Sussex University in England. “And probably as a result of that, [they are] able to generate this response from humans where they immediately wanted to give care.”

The next time your cat purrs to get you out of bed to feed it, you may be in the midst of a mind control experiment conducted by your cat. Don’t panic. Just do what your cat wants and everything will be all right.
