Dogs generally eat anything. In fact, some dogs will even eat cat droppings, which makes you wonder about the intelligence of those dogs.

Yet researchers at Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia believe they’ve found the answer. It appears that cats had 12 different genes for bitter taste.

Cats don’t like anything that tastes bitter. Researchers believe this helps cats avoid infection by eating food that’s bad for them. Surprisingly, dogs and humans have genes to detect bitterness, but cats have more advanced bitter detecting genes. So that proves once and for all that cats have better taste than dogs and humans.
