Many people are allergic to cats. Sadly, many people who like cats are also allergic to cats.  That’s why Circassia Pharmaceuticals tried to find a vaccine for cat allergies.

Circassia’s treatment tried to improve patients’ basic resistance by making their immune systems tolerate allergens. Unfortunately, the vaccine failed to meet the main goal in a third-phase study because of a significant placebo effect among patients not receiving treatment.

So if you’re looking for a way to cuddle with a cat despite any allergies, you’re out of luck. Maybe you can cuddle a stuffed animal but chances are good you won’t be able to hold a cat unless you don’t mind your eyes watering and feeling itchy.
