The first Hello Kitty Cafe in the U.S. opened at the Irvine Spectrum Center mall and promptly got swamped by fans. Customers started lining up at 7 a.m. in anticipation of a 11 a.m. opening. By 2 p.m., the restaurant was sold out of its baked goods and had to close early.

To get in, expect to wait anywhere form 30 minutes to five or six hours. If you’re a big fan of Hello Kitty, then you should make a trip to the Hello Kitty cafe. For Hello Kitty fans, this can be like a religious experience except with more fun and less violence.
