There’s always been a big mystery how people migrated across continents, but now there may be an answer on how cats migrated as well. While people did the hard work of walking or sailing to different places, it appears that cats simply rode along with farmers and Vikings.

DNA genetic analysis suggests that there were two waves of cat expansion. Firs, cats spread from the Middle East into the eastern Mediterranean, alongside human farmers. Second, spread by sea to Eurasia and Africa on Viking ships.
