Religion has always had an up and down relationship with cats. In some cultures, cats were worshipped as goddesses. In other cultures, cats were persecuted as agents of the devil. That just proves once and for all that humans are confused as a species while cats are simply angelic no matter how you look at them, even when they knock that expensive vase of yours to the floor.

For the persecution cats have suffered in the name of religion, they’ve also been protected by many religious figures. Saint Gertrude of Nivelles is known as the patron saint of cats so that proves not all religious figures have disliked cats.
