Like many animal shelters, the Good Mews cat shelter in Marietta, an Atlanta suburb, houses 100 or so cats who lounge around waiting for a human to find them and give them a forever home. But unlike most animal shelters, the Good Mews shelter has found a unique way to attract people who might fall in love with a cat. They offer yoga in the shelter.
Participants have to bring their own yoga mats but while they practice yoga, the cats lounge around the yoga mats and get in the way of the humans. The class has been a huge hit and sells out almost as soon as the times are announced online three times a month.
“I really like the class and really like hanging out with all the cats,” said Katie Misencik, a volunteer and regular yoga practitioner.
