Schrödinger’s Cat is a thought experiment for quantum physicists. The basic idea is that if you put a cat in a box and give it a 50-50 chance of survival, the cat is only dead or alive the moment you peek inside. Until then, the cat is neither dead nor alive.

While this strange thought experiment might seem counter-intuitive, it makes perfect sense in the world of quantum physics. Now physicists have created microwave photons, dubbed “Schrödinger’s cats” because they can be in two different states at once.

Who would have guessed that cats could help solve the problems of quantum physics one day?
