In the Buddhist religion, a butsudan is a small Buddhist altar placed indoors into which ashes of deceased relatives are often placed. One Buddhist was surprised one day when he spotted his cat nestled inside the butsudan.
After posting pictures of his cat violating the sacred space of the butsudan, other people started posting pictures of their cats taking over their butsudan as well. Since most cats assume their gods and goddesses already, this just makes perfect sense from a cat’s point of view.
