Like humans, cats can get kidney disease. While it’s impossible to completely prevent kidney disease, you can make it less likely to occur in your own cat. The simplest way is to keep your cat’s litter box clean so it will urinate consistently. Second, get your cat regular checkups to detect problems ahead of time.

Make sure your cat has access to plenty of fresh water and give your cat wet food to provide enough liquid in your cat’s diet. Finally, keep your pet healthy and avoid obesity. Just as obesity can create problems in humans, so can obesity create problems in cats.

By taking a few simple steps to protecting your cat, you can reduce it’s chances of getting kidney disease so your cat will be around you for a long time to come.
