Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel is a paramedic from Aleppo who has helped people during the regime’s bombardment of the city. Besides helping people, Aljaleel also took it upon himself to take care of street cats that may have lost their homes due to the turmoil in that country.

Aljaleel established the first cat sanctuary in Syria, named “Ernesto’s house” after his first cat, and made international headlines back in 2016. Now he’s back in Syria to help people and cats alike. Besides running a cat sanctuary, he is also building playgrounds for local children and hoping to construct a school near his new facility.

When people are generous with cats, they can take that generosity and apply it to humans as well. Let’s hope Aljaleel stays safe in Syria as he helps people and cats live a better life.
