Australia has a huge feral cat problem. Recent studies digging through the stomachs and feces of Australian feral cats found that cats consumed 1.8 million reptiles a day plus an estimated 1 million native birds.

This essentially has threatened native birds and reptiles throughout Australia. The solution is to keep your cat indoors because outdoor cats can still kill animals. To give your cat outside time, consider building a catio, which is a special enclosed patio that lets your cat roam outside without getting free to kill birds or reptiles (unless the reptiles sneak into the catio).

Keep your cat inside and help protect Australia’s fragile ecosystem. Cats are furry killers in disguise so don’t let their cute face fool you (again and again).
