Most people have heard of Bitcoin, but they may not realize that it’s based on a technology called blockchains. Blockchains have other purposes and one of them has been to create crypto kitties, cartoon cats that you can buy and sell over the Internet.
Amazingly, someone recently bought a crypto kitty for $172,000. The crypto kitty is #896775 and her name is Dragon. She has chestnut coloured eyes, her base colour is “cottoncandy”, and she finds spying on neighbours “exhilarating”.
If you think your cat is valuable, just remember that someone else thinks that a crypto kitty on the Internet is worth $172,000. Hopefully that person has some real cats they can care for as well because at least some of that money won’t go to waste if it’s used to care for cats.
