With the NFL football season about to start, people are watching their favorite teams. Strangely, one team, the Dallas Cowboys, had a head coach who used the term “pet cat” to identify players who the coach thought was worth picking from the draft regardless of their actual abilities.

Now the term “pet cat” refers to any player that someone takes a liking to for whatever reason, even without logic, just like people choose real cats. So the next time you hear people talking about pet cats, they could be talking about actual felines or they could be talking about their favorite football players. Either way, the term “pet cat” means liking something for no reason, which describes real cats perfectly.
