In 2013, the UK Observer set up a challenge. They pitted a trio of professional investment managers against a group of high school students and a cat named Orlando. The goal was to see who was better at picking stocks, the experts or the amateurs (the high school students and the cat).

The cat won. While the professionals and high school students tried to pick stocks the old fashioned way, Orlando the cat simply tossed a toy mouse onto a grid of numbers that designated different companies. By the end of the contest, Orlando the cat had earned a profit of £5,542.60, beating the professionals by £366.
