Cats have evolved in different parts of the world, but one breed that’s endangered is the Scottish Wildcat. Apparently the Scottish Wildcat has been interbreeding with feral domestic cats until only 45 to 100 purebred specimens remain, mostly roaming remote parts of Scotland’s western Highlands.
That’s why the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland is now devoted to preserving this breed. Hopefully they’ll keep the Scottish Wildcat breed alive, but while scientists try this, other people can adopt cats of different types and wind up with a lovable creature no matter what its pedigree might be.
