Owning a cat comes with the hard reality that one day your pet will pass away. However if you have 250,000 yuan (£30,000 / $35,400), you can pay a Chinese company to clone your cat.
The laboratories of Sinogene Biotechnology Company in Beijing recently cloned a kitten named Garlic. Sinogene even hopes to use AI or a brain-computer interface technology to store and transfer memories to cloned pets in the future.
So if you want a beloved cat to stay with you a lifetime, consider getting it cloned. Or better yet, just get another cat and help rescue a cat that needs a good home.
