People love cats so it only makes sense to create a museum, honoring cats. 84-year old Harold Sims couldn’t find a cat museum in the United States so he decided to make one himself.

The American Museum of the House Cat opened in 2017 and has seen over 15,000 visitors including those from Russia, China and England. In addition to his museum, Harold discovered that every shelter in the county killed its cats if they weren’t adopted within a given time period. So in 1996, he set out to build the county’s first no-kill institution.

Harold has turned his love of cats into a good cause and helped bring joy and happiness to multiple people and felines. If you happen to be in North Carolina, look for the American Museum of the House Cat.
