It’s a proven fact that music can reduce stress levels in people and calm them down. So it only makes sense that music can also calm cats down and reduce their stress levels as well.

The School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University examined what type of music can help reduce stress in cats while they’re at the vet’s office and concluded that cats were only calmer when listening to cat-specific music rather than classical music or no music at all.

Apparently cat-specific music contains purring sounds and frequencies similar to cats’ vocal ranges, which are about two octaves higher than a normal human vocal range. So if you want to calm your cat down, purr at it or just play music similar to a cat’s purring.
