Ryzhik, a scruffy red tabby cat, had the misfortune of being caught outside on the streets of the Siberian city of Tomsk. The blistering cold wound up freezing his four paws.

Fortunately animal protection volunteers rushed Ryzhik to Russian veterinarian Sergei Gorshkov in Novosibirsk, some 200km away, who created four prosthetic paws for the cat. Now Ryzhik can enjoy life like a regular cat, running and playing around the clinic.

When you see people banding together to help animals, it makes you realize that instead of diplomats, we should just all bond over cats. At least that way people will actually like each other.
