James Dean used to work as an electrical engineer before deciding to pursue art full time. His initial paintings focused on rural landscapes from his childhood in Alabama, but in 1999, James adopted a scrawny black shelter cat and named him Pete.
When Pete started hanging around James while he painted, James started painting pictures of Pete. As his cat pictures became more popular, he decided to turn Pete the Cat into a children’s book, and that has become a popular book series.
Now if you happen to live in Roswell, Georgia, you’ll have a chance to meet James Dean in person and view his gallery of art.
