The Japanese love cats so it’s no surprise that the Japanese government has enlisted the aid of a cat mascot to encourage people to stay on guard against COVID-19.

The pink costumed critter wears a mask and plastic shield over her Hello Kitty–ish face along with sporting a big red X that crosses out “Covid-19” written across her middle. She also carries a purple sword and sports a red superhero cape as she hands out face masks.

If you’re going to fight a pandemic, you might as well use humor and a cat mascot to get everyone’s attention.
