Dr. Seuss created numerous iconic children’s cartoon characters but two of his most famous are the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat. Back in 1982, the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat actually met in a cartoon special.

The cartoon special shows the Grinch trying to be unhappy and grouchy when he runs into the Cat in the Hat. After tormenting the Cat in the Hat, the Cat in the Hat decides to find a way to make the Grinch happy, and that’s when he realizes the Grinch loves his deceased mother. By bringing back happy memories of the Grinch’s mother, the Cat in the Hat helps make the Grinch less cranky than normal.
