Any cat owner will tell you that cats know how to manipulate humans to do their bidding. Now it turns out that researchers at the University of Sussex have discovered that cats use a “soliciting purr” to overpower their owners and garner attention and food.

Unlike regular purring, this sound incorporates a “cry”, with a similar frequency to a human baby’s. That triggers a human’s response to serve the cat, which is exactly what it wants. Because humans are so gullible and easily manipulated, cats can take over the world and people will be only too happy to let them do it.
