Many people believe that cats are selfish, heartless creatures who only care about themselves, but that description really only applies to politicians. Despite the appearance of aloofness that cats project, cats actually do love people, especially the ones they can easily manipulate.
While dogs wag their tails to show affection, researchers discovered that cats smile. Unlike humans who smile with their mouth, cats smile with their eyes. The narrower their eyes appear, the more satisfied they are with their human companions.
So look at a cat’s eyes for a sign of affection. Then narrow your own eyes to smile right back at your cat.
