Many owners put their pets in competitions to win awards. However, some awards are not always what you want to strive for. In the case of a black cat named Giles, the cat took home the Hambone Award. In case you never heard of the Hambone Award, it’s given out by Nationwide Insurance to honor the most ridiculous medical claims for pets that the company insures.
The Hambone Award began when a dog got hypothermia after getting stuck in the refrigerator and eating a whole ham while inside. Giles the cat won the Hambone Award for getting trapped in a couch that folds out into a bed. Apparently the owners forgot to look for Giles when they folded the bed back into a couch, trapping the cat inside.
