If you have a cat, you already know your cat can give you multiple looks that mean anything from “I like you” to “Get away from me now!” In case you’re having trouble identifying the expression on your cat’s face, you’ll be happy to know that two US scientists have identified 276 different facial expressions when two domestic cats meet each other.

These researchers found that domestic cats are more tolerant of other cats than cats in the wild, most likely due to their proximity to humans. So the next time your cat looks at another cat, try to identify what each cat is thinking. You may be surprised at how expressive your cat’s face can really be.
