Last November, Blessie Mae Ayalde was biking with her dad through typhoon-ravaged streets near their home in the Philippines when she saw a little gray face peeking out of the mud. Amazingly, it was a kitten that had somehow managed to survive the typhoon.

Ayalde returned the next day to find the kitten visibly weaker and decided to bring it home and nurse it back to health. After giving the kitten a bath, Ayalde discovered that the cat had been covered in oil and was actually partially white underneath.

Now the kitten has thrived under the safety of Ayalde’s home. Hopefully the cat will never have to survive another typhoon again.
