Some cats are more vocal than others, but nearly all cats meow. However, Swedish scientist, Suzanne Schötz, says that cats only seem to meow in the presence of humans to get someone’s attention.

‘I found with my cats, they have a different sound to their music when they are sad, compared with when they are happy,’ says Schötz.

Schötz hopes to study more about why cats meow and what they mean when they meow. Most likely cats meow when they want their lazy human servants to serve them immediately, but perhaps Schötz can help decipher the language of cats so we can all learn to speak with our cats and obey their commands more efficiently than ever before.
