Often times science and everyday observation don’t always coincide. When you look out a window, the world looks flat although its’ actually round. Similarly, when people look at cats, they often see an aloof animal that shows only disdain and contempt to humans.

Yet the latest study by Oregon State University, published in Behavioural Processes, concludes that cats actually enjoy human contact more than eating. Even more surprising, cats are actually nice animals.

This can dispel years of beliefs that cats care only about themselves. While some cats may be selfish and self-centered, others can be loving and affectionate. The only difference is that most people only seem to notice the selfish cats and ignore the nice ones, much like politicians.
