One supposed advantage humans have over other animals is that humans are supposed to be self-aware. Of course, that doesn’t stop humans from doing stupid things to themselves and each other, but it does give people a feeling of superiority even if they don’t always benefit from being self-aware.

Now research indicates that cats may be self-aware as well. To test this theory, researchers put animals in front of a mirror to see if they understand that they’re looking at themselves instead of another cat that may look and act just like them.

Of course if you put a mirror in front of many people, they may fail this self-aware test, so the fact that cats can pass this test might show that cats are superior to the human race after all.
