During a championship league game between Besiktas and Bayern Munich, a cat ran out on to the pitch and temporarily halted play. That, along with other incidents, caused Uefa to charge Besiktas with “insufficient organisation”.
How a team is supposed to keep a cat off the pitch remains a mystery, especially considering that homeowners can’t control their house cats, let alone any feral cats that decide to wander across the pitch. Still, it’s nice to know the power that a cat holds over sports organizations. If a cat can terrorize a human owner, it’s no small feat to terrorize an entire sports team as well.
