At the Vanderburgh Humane Society in Evansville, Indiana, someone surrendered a cat named Ty. What made matters worse is that Ty weighted 30 pounds, nearly 15 pounds over its optimum weight. Before the shelter will allow anyone to adopt Ty, they need him to lose 15 pounds first.

Besides putting Ty on a diet, the shelter takes Ty to an aquatic center to swim on a regular basis. By using a lifejacket, Ty is able to paddle around the water and exercise in a healthy fashion. Hopefully whoever adopts Ty will be able to let Ty continue swimming safely in a pool if he wants to.
