How did saber-tooth tigers kill their prey? The original theory was that they sank their teeth into their helpless victims and ripped away their flesh. However a new theory says that saber-tooth tigers most likely used their curved teeth as leverage to tear away flesh, using the same principle as a can opener.
Knowing cats, why would a saber-tooth tiger work any harder than it has to? Following that train of logic, it’s more likely that the saber-tooth tigers would rely more on leverage and less on raw strength to take down their prey. If human beings were around, the saber-tooth tigers would probably have been perfectly content to let the humans open cans of cat food for them and feed them every day instead.
