If you want to know what cats used to look like in the time of ancient Egypt, science now has an answer. Using DNA samples from Egyptian cat mummies, scientists determined that early cats were striped. Paintings of cats on Egyptian murals also depict striped cats as well.

It was only until the Middle Ages that cats with blotch patterns started to appear. So if you have a striped cat, your cat’s heritage goes back to Egyptian royalty. If you have a cat without stripes, your cat still thinks it belongs to Egyptian royalty so either way, you’re going to be a slave to your cat.
